Town of Blue Mounds
Board of Supervisors
September 8, 2014
Dennis Jelle, Chairman, opened the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Also present were Supervisors, John Brixy and Al Antonson, Clerk, Helen Kahl and Treasurer, Nancy Goplin.
Helen read the minutes of the Aug. 11, 2014 meeting. Al moved to approve with several amendments: (Nancy Goplin was NOT present, and a typo was corrected) John seconded, motion passed 3-0.
Road Maintenance Report. Dan wishes to rent the brush cutting mower. It’s in Green Bay so trucking it in will be expensive. Dennis suggested we check with the Richland Center New Holland dealer. He will check and the board agreed to get the cutting done. Dan also proposed we think about selling the 4 wheel drive truck that’s only used for snow plowing, get a bigger Fendt, trade in the old Fendt. He was directed to get numbers together for the Budget meeting in November.
No Public Comments.
Nothing new on Comprehensive Plan updates. The target date is October meeting.
Budget amendments and outlook. The board looked over the budget as it stands currently. We’ll be over on repairs and fuel/tires but under on several other categories. Helen suggested we not make any budget amendments until we get all the bills in for the sealcoating and culverts. Budget workshop will be Thursday, Oct 9, at 7:30 p.m.
Al moved to approve Citation Ordinance #12, John seconded, Motion passed 3-0. Helen will publish.
John introduced Ordinance 13 for Implements of Husbandry for the board to study and discuss next month.
Land Use Committee Report. There will be a site visit on West Blue Mounds Road for Haas and perhaps a property off HWY 92 for a commercial rezone. VFW is on the county agenda for Oct 23 at the Board of Adjustments for the variance. Helen suggested Dennis call Hans Hilbert at the county urging them to move the petition up to their September meeting so they could get started on their project, especially since they’re a veterans organization.
Fire District Report. Annual budget meeting Sep 24. Health insurance is going up and workmen’s comp insurance as well. They are looking at a 9% budget increase.
Dennis asked John to attend the Dane County Towns Association meeting and bring up the county roads which are not being maintained. Hazelbaker is thinking of suggesting that the county give up the roads to the towns but give up the levy as well.
John or Al will attend the Wisconsin Towns Association Fall Town and Village Workshop at Mineral Point on Sep 25.
Bills to pay: John moved to approve bills of $19,413.52. Al seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
